Press Release

From July 1st 2007 Stone+Partners will change name to S+P Lawyers. Our new name reflects our new company structure as we move from a partnership to an incorporated practice.

Becoming S+P Lawyers will not alter or affect the services we offer to our clients. In fact we retain the same committed team, same quality legal service and same office locations in Lismore and Byron Bay. Even our logo remains similar.

The name change means from July 1st 2007 the Firm’s partners Allan Cowley, Stuart Garrett and Ben Carroll will become directors of the new corporate practice.

As S+P Lawyers we retain the same office phone numbers and can still be reached on our general number 1300 277 000. However, please note from July 1st will have a new website address www.splawyers.com.au.

S+P Lawyers continues with the tradition of Stone+Partners offering the highest quality legal services for Business, Property transactions, Personal Injury matters, Wills and Estate Planning, Family Law and Elder Law.

For more information on our name change please see the Question and Answer document on this website or feel free to give us a call  on 1300 277 000 and ask to speak with one of the Firm’s partners. We’d love to hear from you.

Questions and Answers

Q: I have heard Stone+Partners will change name. Can you tell me what’s happening?
A: Yes from July 1st 2007 Stone+Partners will change name to S+P Lawyers.
Our new name reflects; our new company structure as we become an incorporated practice. Now is the right time to change our name to better reflect our new structure. It means we can develop our plans for the future.

Even though we are changing our name to S+P Lawyers this will not affect the services we offer to our clients. We retain the same teams, same legal services and same office locations. Even our logo remains similar. It is just from July 1 we will have a new name, S+P Lawyers.

Q: But why change your name at all. Everyone knows Stone+Partners?
A: We are changing name because we are changing the structure of the Firm from a partnership to an incorporated practice. It means from July 1 2007 will be known as S+P Lawyers.

Q: How should we refer to the new Firm? I've only seen the new logo?
A: Our new name, (phonetically sounded) is S and P Lawyers. This officially comes into effect on July 1st 2007.

Q: What about your office locations?
A: No change here. We continue with the same office locations in Byron Bay and Lismore.

Q: Will you have a new phone number?
A: No, we'll keep the same phone numbers and we can still be reached on our general number: 1300 277 000

Q: What does this mean to me as a client?
A: Although we are changing our name, the relationship between you and the Firm remains unchanged. You will retain the same level of client service from the same legal teams. It is just that we will be known as S+P Lawyers and all our communication from July 1 will be as S+P Lawyers.

However all forms and other communication sent to us using the old name will still be valid.

Q: Will the name change affect the matters I have with the Firm. Do I have to do anything?
A: For the majority of clients no, there is no effect whatsoever. It is just that we are changing our name. Our staff, office locations and services all remain the same. So you don't have to do anything.

For clients with money in trust, they will be written to and will need to sign an authority to enable the transfer of funds to the S+P trust account. But for most clients no action is required.

Q: So what is the new structure and does the Firm still have partners?
A: Many law firms are changing from a partnership to an incorporated practice to improve the operation of the Firm. And that's what we have done. It also means the former partners are now the directors of the new corporate practice. But other than that there is no real change.

Q: Will you have a new website?
A: Yes, from July 1st we will have a new website www.splawyers.com.au. We would like our clients to start getting used to seeing information from S+P Lawyers as we continue to grow the business under that name.

Q: Will you have different email addresses or can I still use the current one?
A: Yes, all our staff will have new email addresses and you will start to see communication from them using the new email addresses. However the old email addresses will still work for now. If you have any further questions about our name change please call us to discuss.
